At the start of play draw a card, that is how many Willpower
points your character was down from max when they went to sleep for the day.
Generally you get one point back for sleeping. A character may add their
Haven(Size) rating to their initial Willpower or use a point of Resources to
gain a point of Willpower (as Herd is used to gain Vitae).

The idea that a character in LARP started with a random amount of Vitae to represent its use between sessions, but always showed up to LARP full on Willpower, like it was never effected in their day to day life, always bothered me.
The ability to also shift Haven (Size) away from being Haven (that other thing that mattered if you had a concept that suggested you should have a big manor and had spare XP) rather than another mechanically sound background also appealed
